Individual Therapy

I provide individual tele-therapy services to adults, ages 18 & older. My areas of specialization include: trauma, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, anxiety, OCD, and depression. I utilize various interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma

CPT was developed by the Veterans’ Affairs Administration to address symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This type of therapy helps clients challenge and change unhelpful beliefs about themselves, others, and the world that developed due to trauma. Typically CPT is delivered over 12 sessions.

Inference-Based Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT):

Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) is used to treat Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD.) OCD is driven by a process called “inferential confusion,” where the brain starts to trust imagined possibilities over what is actually happening in the present moment. I-CBT works by helping you reconnect with your senses, build trust in reality, and step out of the cycle of doubt. Unlike other modalities used to treat OCD, the goal of I-CBT is to resolve the doubt before anxiety escalates, rather than pushing through it by use of exposures.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a type of therapy that involves the client focusing briefly on a disturbing memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation or BLS. This has been shown to change the memory in a way that it loses its vividness and intensity and becomes a neutral memory of an event from the past. Bilateral stimulation can include eye movements back and forth, auditory sounds alternating in both ears, or alternating tapping on both sides of the body. EMDR is evidenced-based and has been shown to be effective in treating various disorders and/or concerns including PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, depression, and low self-esteem.
